Lyrics:

"Sun, Sun Baby"
Sun, Sun Baby
Sun, Sun Baby
Yo Class, Sit Back and Listen!
We're here to talk about Photosynthesis!
Flow Like the Calvin Cycle Daily & Nightly
The electron acceptor grabs electrons Tightly!
Will it ever stop? Yo I don't know?
Plants need the Calvin Cycle in order to grow
Carbon is fixed by Rubisco
But it can also bond to.. "O"
When it gets hot-ta they open their Stomata
But whenever they're open they loose a little bit o' wat-ta
Sun, Sun Baby
Sun, Sun Baby
Now that the Electrons are Jumping
And the Electron pumps are Pumping
H2O and CO2
Go through reactions to make the food
One of the Bi products is the ion O2,
So plants provided Oxygen for you!
Transpiration cools off Leaves
An arid climates, it's what the plant needs
Plants are green because of Chlorophyll
In Chloroplasts found in the Mesophyll
Sun, Sun Baby
Sun, Sun Baby
Guard Cells Openin' and Closin'
During the day they stay open to get the Most in
But don't forget about those CAM plants
They open at night
So next time you eat a Pineapple
Think of it in a different light!
Light Reactions split water in the Thylakoid Membrane
They capture light energy, how Insane?!
Sun, Sun Baby
Sun, Sun Baby
Potassium moves into Guard Cells
The stomata open because it Swells
CO2, energy, and water
Produce glucose to no Falter
If you wonder why Photosynthesis is cool
Keep in Mind that you need it too!!
Sun, Sun Baby
Sun, Sun Baby

Photosynthesis - American Idol Musical

Yeop, here is yet another one from Marjorie Daria and Amaris Lumpkin...

from the authors:

My roommate Amaris and I had entirely different plans for this project, but with no regrets, have come up with something entirely different. The video's main purpose was to instill a general overview of the processes of photosynthesis with some of today's popular beats and tunes. The lyrics are entirely original. Amaris had agreed to play the parts of each character, and of course, she and I worked on the final compilation. Thanks for watching!

Under the Sun

By James Barber, Eleni Kursten, Rachel Harris

Lyrics:
The seaweed is always greener
Were you ever wonderin’ why
Cuz chlorophyll’s always keener
To take up the sun oh my!
This pigment is in a chloroplast
Absorbs every color but green
Stomata part of the leaves cast
That’s where gas exchange is seen
Oh oh
Thank you dear plants
Thank You dear Plants
For giving to me
All that I need
Oxygen to breathe
H2O and CO2
Makes glucose and O2 for me and you
The time youre devotin’
Is really worth noting
Thank you dear plants
Light reactions occur in grana
The light hits the chlorophyll
Electrons excite like santa
Passed down the electron mill
Movement converts to short term energy
As NADPH and ATP
Split water makes O2 for me
Now carbon carbon bonds form yippee!
Thank you dear plants
Thank You dear Plants
For giving to me
All that I need
Oxygen to breathe
H2O and CO2
Makes glucose and O2 for me and you
The time youre devotin’
Is really worth notin’
Thank you dear plants
(Pause)

To stroma we go
You don’t need light here
Just carbon to fix here
With Rubisco
The calvin cycle is the name
Making sugar is the game
Photosystem
First two then one
Under the sun
The plants produce food
Without them we’re screwed
Base of the food chain
Without them much pain
Give veggies and fruit
Which is such a hoot
They regenerate oxygen
(Yeah!)
They take in CO2
Which helps me and you
Lowers global warming
So heat is not swarming
Evolved long ago
So cells could grow
With limited resources
(background music break)
Thank you dear plants
Thank you dear Plants
For giving to me
All that I need
Oxygen to breathe
H2O and CO2
Makes glucose and O2 for me and you
The time youre devotin’
Is really worth notin
Thank you dear plants
They are essential
Lots of potential
Thank you dear plants
Provide energy
So we can be
Controls CO2
Allows cows to moo
Let us survive
Without them we’d die
Thank you dear plants

AdaptationDaily (#524): March 30th (Photosynthesis)

By: Erik Willett (sect 1)

From the student: "3-5 Sentence Disclaimer: I directed the video toward this format as a response to today's vlogger culture on YouTube and to integrate aspects of
a tech show crossed with biology. Through absurd anachronism, I have
brought the advent of photosynthesis to light in the modern day by
showcasing it as if it were the next iPhone. Rather than dawning the
infamous black turtleneck of Mr. Steve Jobs, I decided to tackle the
project from the perspective of the amateur YouTube-based critic. I've
tried to give the impression that this has been a long-standing series of
videos that has found itself greatly misplaced in time."

The Rom Tucker Report

By Luke Gilewski , Tarun Banda , Matt Edwards, Tom McCarthy, Pat McKimey
(needs citations)

From the students: We were trying to create a video similar to a show like Anderson Cooper'sor something along those lines. Basically, it's a debate segment that
features one person who claims photosynthesis doesn't exist and fails to
see it's importance. Two biologist are there to show their viewpoint and
explain how photosynthesis works along with why it's important in the
hopes of swaying the denier's viewpoint. Rom Tucker serves as the anchor
and mediator. The show is the Rom Tucker show and it's featured on the
channel Discover Channel News.

Photosynthesis Rap

By: Jennifer McGuire Section 12
From the student: "I created this video to express the basic parts of photosynthesis and it'simportance. My goal was to create an educational video that would explain the basics of the light and dark reactions to someone who is looking to find the out the basis of photosynthesis. I used song, diagrams and pictures to convey the different processes involved as well as how photosynthesis affects other things such as the survival of other living organisms. Hopefully my "rap" is entertaining enough to keep the viewer interested on the topic"

Lyrics:
“Photosynthesis”

Photosynthesis takes place in the chloroplast, learning about it is a real blast! The two stages are light and dark, and its way cooler than swimming with a shark.

First chlorophyll absorbs light photons in the photosystem II of the thylakoids. The chlorophyll molecules gets excited its energy is transferred through the delighted pigment molecules to the reactor center complex. Then from there without a care the special chlorophyll a molecules give electrons to the primary acceptor through a redox reaction and becomes reduced—that’s a fact

H20 split into 2 electrons 2 hydrogen’s and one 02 2 electrons to electron transport chain 02 into our mouths and brains electron transport chain like a choo choo train through pq through pc through cytochrome complex can’t you see it’s as easy as the abc’s electrons end up at photosystem 1 but along the way they lost their excitement it went to energy for ADP (it ain’t free!)

ADP to ATP through a cooperation: photophosphorylation P 700 chlorophylls accept electrons then to the primary acceptor they are drawn redox reaction brings ‘em through another chain through ferredoxin electrons are given up to NADP+ who says ‘What’s Up?!’ With the help of NADP+ reductase, NADPH is made

ATP and NADPH goin’ to the dark reactions to help food be made Three phases of the calvin cycle to retain fixation, reduction, and regeneration on the brain we’ll follow three CO2 to make it into food It’s here in the stroma not in a pear or in a coma first phase is carbon fixation RuBP is its foundation CO2 attached to RuBP by rubisco not by fatty acids in Crisco this yields 2, 3-phosphoglycerates next phase reduction doesn’t rhyme with glycerate

ATP gives a phosphate group 3-biphosphoglycerate (whoop whoop) NADPH gives it electrons and reduces it to 6 molecules of G3P (ons) one exits that cycle for metabolic pathways the other 5 are recycles they don’t go away ‘cuz

Regeneration is the last part G3P recycled for RuBP man that’s smart 3 ATP used for 5 molecules what’s left is 3 RuBP don’t ridicule. Now ready to receive more CO2 the Calvin cycle can now continue!

“Photosynthesis”

It’s so important we need it to live we need it to breathe this you really gotta believe we need it to get our food so here’s an example to conclude cows eat the grass that grows using the photosynthesis flow we eat the cows when they get too big for their stalls and that’s how photosynthesis affects us all!
